Koroit Opal is mined by persistent and fastidious individual land owners in Queensland, Australia. It has small flahses of fire in a matrix stone. This piece has flashes of dark purple in the matrix, best seen in direct lights. I have included a picture by flash to bring out the color.

This piece is wrapped in 14 karat gold fill wire, which is considered to be an heirloom quality wire. 14 karat gold fill wire is a tube of 14 karat gold filled with a base jeweller’s wire for strength and flexibility.
